It was a few months ago that I wrote about brother Moazzam Begg and how we live in a state which tries to silence whistleblowers; ( islam21c/politics/silencing-of-whistleblowers-welcome-to-the-orwellian-state/ ) Since I wrote this particular article, Ive come to realise that the government (doesnt really matter which particular political party) are working extremely hard to create a police state. Whereas in the past it took hard evidence and a criminal act to convict someone of a crime, these days you only need to demonstrate a person had criminal thoughts using spurious evidence. The biggest victims of this policing of thoughts and beliefs are currently Muslims. We are the test case. We are the Trojan Horse. Under the guise of tackling non violent extremism which is apparently the precursor to terrorism, Muslims are being targeted left right and center for normative traditional Islamic views weve held for 14 centuries. The crackdown on Muslims who hold such beliefs are supported by government funded Muslim agencies such as the Quilliam Foundation, Inspire & the British Muslims for Secular Democracy. I wouldnt end there. Mainstream historical Muslim organisations are now towing similar lines albeit in a less apparent way. These agencies are being used to define what 21st Century British Islam should be to add legitimacy to their policing of this forever broadening categorisation of Extremism and therefore Muslims. I believe Muslims are merely the test case before it becomes widespread in the guise of National Security. Britain is becoming Soviet Union esq. Welcome to the Orwellian State!
