It was in 1949 Dr B R Ambedkar quoted Social democracy means a way of life which recognises liberty, equality and fraternity as the principles of life. These principles of liberty, equality and fraternity are not to be treated as separate items in a trinity. They form a union of trinity in the sense that to divorce one from the other is to defeat the very purpose of democracy. Without equality, liberty would produce the supremacy of the few over the many. Equality without liberty would kill individual initiative. Without fraternity, liberty and equality could not become a natural course of things. After 65 years, looking to Kuppegala school issue where school children of the so called upper castes are let to have their mid-day meal as it is cooked by a dalit woman. I am sorry for those kids who are not aware what really caste system in India is. I dont think things have changed a lot for oppressed class. In cities SC/STs are economically and socially is in quite good condition. What about the villages? The so called SC/ST welfare activities majorly have taken the benefits of the government to their homes and not to reached it to the real beneficiaries. It is unfortunate that India dint understand what really Dr B R Ambedkar had visions for India. If we had understood it, by now the reservation system for SC/ST would have been ended. disastrously it has been politicised.
