It was late afternoon before I finally hit the road for Glen - TopicsExpress

It was late afternoon before I finally hit the road for Glen Canyon! And that road ran through more of the gorgeous mesa country all the way up to the Hite crossing of the Colorado River, which is at the northern end of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Along the way I got a quick flash of big tawny cat about 200 yards off the road. He was headed up a small rise and moving fast, so had something in sight. I’m pretty sure it was a mountain lion, which would make it the first for me! There wasn’t much of anything at Hite. I got there too late to check in with the rangers and the river is so low that river traffic going down into Lake Powell can’t run. I took some pictures and hurried on to find a spot to camp. I’m on BLM land west of the Hite crossing…found it just as the sun went down. I have a panoramic view to enjoy tomorrow morning….and I parked the truck facing west again! Aloha!
