It was one of the toughest moments of my life to hear that I lost my PG exams even after performing to my level of confidence. I had got a positive feedback from the examiners after the practical sessions. But when I approached the University, they denied the mark list. But I somehow managed to get a ‘Statement of Mark List’ It was shocking me that I lost in Practical exams with a mark of only 57 out of 300. My co-PG also got the same mark in practicals !!! There were 17 exercises in the practical examinations which includes one postmortem case and other short cases. But when I enquired in the college (Dept. & Principal) I could know that both of us had cleared the practicals. They explained us that the marks uploaded (57) to the website of KUHS was out of 100 instead of 300. I got some replies to my RTI queries stating the same. There were seven 2011 batch students who appeared for MD forensic Medicine Examinations May-June 2014 out of which two candidates failed in Practical Examinations; that too from same centre – Govt. Medical College, Kottayam, with same marks of 57 out of 300 in Practical !!! Among these seven candidates, I was the top rank holder in the P G medical entrance and I was the only candidate who has been a national level winner in Scientific Paper Presentation. I had conducted more than 650 medico legal postmortem cases and a good number of other medico legal works. I have appeared in front of Honourable Court of Law several times without making even a single negative remark. I think, there is only two possibilities, either a clerical error or personal victimization. Whatever it is, it was shocking and agonizing to me and my family. It is now evident that the above result was not due to my errors or lack of knowledge in the subject. On 13/08/2014, the LAPSE COMMITTEE meeting of KUHS was conducted. Unofficially I came to know that the mistakes from their part will be rectified soon. I think the correct mark list will be published in a few days.
