It was so cute to see Mom sitting at the table with the other ladies as I walked in yesterday. She was eating well and encouraging the others to eat so that they could get stronger too. We met with the RN and did 28 pages of evaluation for the State of WA. She seemed high functioning and was able to whip out her checkbook and accurately date, write and sign the check. The ugliness of dementia is that after I visited some more and kissed her good bye, she took a nap and woke up totally confused as to where she was, why she was there, and furious that I would leave without telling her goodbye! Several phone calls later she must have finally recalled that she is staying there tonight. She needed to know time and exact spot as to where I would meet her today. 10:30 am at the dining room table. I do need to meet the owner to sign some papers, but Mom was planning on packing her things back up and heading home...I hate this disease. Thanks to Penny Pj Southard and Ron Bonnette for transporting her little TV, computer, card table, clothes and pictures to set up her cute room yesterday. I feel as though we are on a roller coaster ride that is neverending, and not the fun kind! So very sad.
