It was supposed to be just normal family gathering, not kinda bling bling party at all. (To be honest, I am quite critical on current 1st birthday party thingy in Korea. Looks ridiculous. What on earth is it for…? ) So, I didn’t do anything until the last minute. My auntie made a reservation at a garden restaurant. That was usual for her to do it. My mum asked us to wear Hanbok(Korean traditional dress) together, which is also typical for her to give us sort of dress code sometimes for family occasions. One of my best friends sent some decoration stuffs. It was also so her. What I did was just bringing a birthday cake, some rice cakes and fruits to share. I was so exhausted with a lot of work and business trip, so I didnt want to do more. ANYWAY, it turned out to be totally different. There would be a wedding right after our lunch in that restaurant. The owner let us use the garden stage with wedding flower decoration. She also hung down ‘Happy first birthday’ banner. Above all things, we had great professional photographers – Kae and Karina, my uncle and his wife from Mexico who have been traveling for 7 months so far, like Jang and I did. Kae told me that its more meaningful for him to spend time with family rather than travelling here and there in Korea since he had been apart from his root for a long time. I carefully talked to them in advance not to take photos since I was bit worried for them if they would ruin their family experience by feeling any pressure for taking fotos. But he just relieved me instead, saying that it was kinda best way for them to enjoy the moment. Eventually, we got a set of beautiful scenes. Indeed, I don’t think any other professionals in this planet could take such amazing photos of us. It was only possible since he belongs to us. I am sure that it will be unforgettable page in our family history, especially when I think of Laon’s 88 yo grand-grandma, my grandma. My mum finally got the photo of 4-generations-of-first-daughters. Huge thanks to uncle Tae(Kary Tae Setfour)! Enjoy your days in Japan and come back home sooon! #thisishome2014
