It was the custom in the Apostle Pauls time to have an understudy - TopicsExpress

It was the custom in the Apostle Pauls time to have an understudy writing as Paul dictated one of His letters to the first churches He planted throughout Asia Minor and Europe. Word would get back to Paul of the goings on at these churches after he departed. And Paul would write letters to express his concerns, correct false teaching or practices, and write words of encourage and praise for those who continued to follow Christs teaching correctly. On this occasion, our brother Sosthenes was taking down a letter to the Church at Corinth. The first part of Pauls greetings, usually start with an opening or Greeting identifying himself Paul, His authority given not by any mere man but by the will of God himself, his title Apostle, one of the elected/chosen 12, to God the Son, Christ Jesus. The second member of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). The second part of Pauls greetings, usually identify who he is writing to to the Church of God that is in Corinth, the Corinthians. This is where the book gets its name. The third part of Pauls greeting speaks to the heart and encourages the Christian, reminding him or her that they in fact priests and priestess, saints of God that are in fact: sanctified and called (have special gifts given to them by God) The fourth section tells the tone of the letter ... he is either going to praise or discuss a grievance ... encourage or rebuke ... who he is writing to. In this case, Paul is thankful for the Corinthians for the Grace God has given them in Jesus Christ. He prays over them and for them that they well equipped by God enriched in him in all speech and knowledge as they confirm their testimony with others in Christ that they lack no spiritual gift and he reminds them that Christ will sustain them to the end, guiltless!!! God is faithful and he reminds them they are the CALLED/CHOSEN of the Son, Jesus Christ. You will notice that the names given for the Books in the New Testament are by who the author is writing to such as 1 & 2 Corinthians or who is doing the writing such as the Gospel of Matthew written by Matthew himself ------------------------------------------------------------- 1 Corinthians 1 (ESV) Greeting 1 Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes, 2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours: 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Thanksgiving 4 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, 5 that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge— 6 even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you— 7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8 who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. https://youtube/watch?v=aRnnMxdcglc
