It was wonderful to help you feel at home in Montreal and to meet - TopicsExpress

It was wonderful to help you feel at home in Montreal and to meet some of you like Elaine-iak Chocolat , Arlette Godges and Dean Hawks! It was so meaningful for me to get to know and see some really good swimmers. We all have our challenges, but perhaps if I share some of mine it will inspire you to pursue your next goal. 3 years ago, I lost 60 lbs because I was worried about high blood pressure and diabetes. I started out as a runner and succeeded in running a 22 min 5k. After 44 years since my last meet in high school, I started Masters Swimming and qualified fir the Worlds in the breaststroke events. Then 3 months before the Worlds, I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation. I cried, thinking that my dream was over. Luckily, I had a great cardiologist who understood that my problem was low risk. I swam PBs in all the breaststroke events and freestyle relays. I am not a medal winner, but I am so happy to help others and do my best. There were other challenges that were worse, but I cannot share in public. Isnt that what masters swimming is about:!overcoming challenges, doing your best and helping others to do the same. God bless you all!
