It will be no easy task to prepare the Pateros School District for the first day of school this year. That day — originally scheduled for Sept. 1 — has been delayed to Sept. 10 while school officials work to fix damages from the Carlton Complex fires, and attempt to contact parents of students who lost homes in the fire. So far, $2.25 million in smoke, water and fire damages to school buildings been identified, said Superintendent Lois Davies.
