Ithaca Taste of the Nation 2014 and what a celebration it was! The new A & E Center venue at Ithaca College was a resounding success and everyone was unanimous in their praise for this spacious new location. Thanks to the remarkable generosity of our corporate sponsors, our 34 participating restaurants and our 34 participating wineries and microbreweries we raised an all-time high of $62,000 to help end childhood hunger. The monies raised will not only be used to help the important work of our local beneficiaries, The Food Bank of the Southern Tier, Ithaca Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program and Cornell Cooperative Extensions Healthy Food for All, but will also find their way to areas of high need around New York State. Important programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Women, Infants and Children (WIC) will also receive funding through Share Our Strengths No Kid Hungry grants program. The members of the event organizing committee are so very appreciative of the efforts & contributions of everyone involved. Our fabulous team of Ticket Ambassadors once again rose to the occasion ensuring another successful year of ticket sales including a record number of VIP tickets sold! Over 125 local businesses donated so very generously to ensure that our Silent Auction Packages & Raffle Prizes were exciting and fun. The 130 volunteers that pitched in to help in every conceivable way are truly the unsung heroes who are at the very heart of making sure everything ran smoothly. We have already begun our planning for next year – Mark your calendars for The Ithaca Taste of the Nation on June 16, 2015 at the Ithaca College Athletics and Events Center. For now we just wanted to get the word about this year’s great results and to let you all know how grateful we are for the extraordinary support and generosity of our community.
