Its Day 4 of Stuart Strathearns 5-day challenge to post a favourite tune of mine. My copy of XTCs Drums and Wires 2-disc surround sound new issue arrived yesterday, an important album in many ways. Firstly, it condemned the two-chord punk ethic to the dumper, secondly it heralded XTCs place in chart history by providing one of the most revered new-wave pop-singles (Making Plans...) and thirdly became an iconic attraction on the shelves at a Megastore near you in 1979 - who couldnt help but be drawn in by the slap and dash logo-face on the cover. Anyway, I always thought that this would have made a great follow-up to Nigel... its about luurrve, about not being able to function when next to the person you adore....
