Its Invisible Illness Awareness Week. Do you know anyone suffering from an invisible illness? Fibromyalgia, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Essential Tremor, Lupus, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, MS and so many more. If you suffer from an Invisible Illness then going to the gym and pumping weights may not be for you. You may need a more gentle exercise to stretch out and build those pretty muscles. Yoga has so many health benefits that its hard to even list them all. Yoga helps anxiety, insomnia, blood pressure, hot flashes, back issues (think sciatica!), fatigue, flexibility, and it helps to change our response to pain. Yoga builds muscle from the inside out and will completely reshape your body without lifting weights. Yoga poses are great for naturally detoxing our organs and igniting that lymphatic system which clears all the junk from our system. Pilates is another wonderful alternative. Pilates primarily focuses on strengthening the core muscles. Without a strong core, were just asking for a back injury. Water aerobics is another alternative. No matter what your health condition is, there is an exercise just for YOU! Side Note- Even basketball and football players are now adding Yoga to their training/workouts. Why? They spend so much time bulking up, which shortens the muscles, so they need the Yoga to increase their flexibility and stretch out those muscles.
