Its Official! Voter turnout actually decreased once again at the EU elections earlier this year. The 0.09% increase reported at the time was used by many to legitimise the authority of the European Union and the heavily criticised #Spitzenkandidaten process that placed Jean-Claude Juncker at the head of the Brussels bureaucracy. ALDE leader Guy Verhofstadt reported at the time that the increase was “an endorsement of the European project”.
