Its Saturday. The day where the disciples and so many others were lost. Even still, after all they had witnessed with him-miracles he did-people he healed-everything he shared at The Last Supper, they had not fully grasped who Jesus really was. All their hope was put into Jesus and Jesus was now dead. Gone. Buried away in a tomb. Silence. They, Im sure, remembered his words & that on the 3rd day he would rise! But how often do we know Gods promises to us but b.c of the Silence.....b.c of the depth of our pain or anxiety or confusion we are in the middle of, we forget him. We forget his power. We forget his love. We forget the truth. We sit in the silence & allow it to convince us that we were wrong. That he isnt who he claims to be. We lose hope. We gain loneliness. We are just like the disciples and the followers of Jesus who Im sure, sat in silence on that Saturday...saddened by his death, broken in every way thinking ALL hope was lost, lacking the faith they needed to believe he WOULD rise the next day & that he WAS the Messiah! I dont wanna sulk in the silence. I dont wanna doubt him in the silence....even when I cant hear him & its like hes dead in a tomb with a big rock between us that I could never move, I wanna remember who he has claimed to be & believe in his promises. Believe that no matter how heavy that stone is NOTHING could keep him from me. I wanna look forward to Sunday-the day I know he is coming to rescue me & reveal himself to me in an even greater way than ever before! So....its Saturday, yes, and God might seem really quiet to you right now. But we know something the disciples & all that followed him didnt know (yet) all those years ago on this same Saturday. WE know he DID rise. He was true to his word. He WAS & IS the MESSIAH & as always, he came through on his promise. Lets walk in the freedom & joy of knowing how the story ends & that not even DEATH can keep him away from us!
