Its a sad time to be a San Franciscan right now with the tragic loss of Robin Williams. Ive never met him before but I grew up watching Mork & Mindy and I feel privileged to watch his transformation into one of the greatest actors in history. I used to see his kids all the time at Town School when I picked up the kids I babysat and I met his mom once at my old church. I heard that Robin even went to my church - City Church - and dubbed it Catholic Light, which always stuck with me because its such an appropriate slogan in some ways. If I drove past his house in the Seaside district (not often), I would look over & wonder what he might be doing at that very moment. Was he travelling on a private jet or inside reading the paper? I have never had that kind of a connection or interest in a celebrity before. What an amazing person he was and truly part of the fabric of this great city. I dont think theres anyone else in the world quite like him.
