Its been a tumultuous few weeks but we now have 2 days off from chemo and hospital. Joshie has had his port line removed and a broviac central line put in. Its certainly easier to access but he still gets very freaked out seeing the double line coming out of his chest. He is still pretty sore from theatre but it will hopefully start to settle soon. After some high dose horrible chemo, josh has suffered terribly with ulcers in his mouth and throat to the point he couldnt swallow his own saliva. Its finally starting to settle and hes managing to eat a bit. He is so stubborn about doing mouth care but its so necessary especially when its so sore. Weve been given the news that Lilly (our youngest 7yrs old) is a match for Josh. Its great news but raises a whole other range of emotions for us. She will have blood tests on Friday to confirm the match and begin the donor process. Weve told josh but not the girls. We will give them the information they need at the appropriate time. I believe that transplant will take place within the next 6-10weeks. We start having meetings next week - it all terrifies me. Joshua is an amazing and brave child and is so much stronger than what he gives himself credit for.
