Its been another banner week for Indian athletics, with plenty of action in boys soccer and football! On last Saturday, November 16th, the Indians soccer team took on Holy Ghost Prep in the PIAA boys AA state championship at Hersheypark Stadium. Both teams battled hard to a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation. The Firebirds were the first to score in overtime, earning them the title. Congratulations to the Indians on a hard-fought match, and their first-ever trip to the state final! On Saturday, the 23rd, the Tribes football team clashed with Central Valley in the WPIAL AAA championship. Freshman kicker D.J. Opsatniks toe proved the difference in the contest, as he booted three field goals to lead the Indians to a 16-6 victory! Its the second straight WPIAL title for WA, and the seventh under head coach Bob Palko. The Tribe will take on Erie Cathedral Prep next Friday at North Allegheny in a rematch of last years PIAA AAA quarterfinal. The Indians are on the warpath, and revenge is on ice and ready to serve!
