Its been clear what I will vote for sometime (probably about 1976), however before tomorrow just my last thoughts. I did not come from a family of Nationalists (it was very red) and my politics are still defined by those early thoughts. I remember being in tears when Thatcher won in 79 ( I was right to cry). In my simplistic way I predicted the crash of the late eighties and then watched in complete wonder as we did it all again. Remember dear Gordon proudly boasting An end to Boom and Bust. In the eighties everyone was led to believe (to be fair not so much in Scotland) that there was no such thing as Society and it was everyone for themselves,e.g. clearly the Market will give us great Power Companies (Gas , Electricity.Water were far better in private hands). Remember to tell Bill it was a load of Tosh. (only people around then will get that). It did make a small number of people very rich though. So whats that got to do with now, The campaigns, for me, have been framed in two similar ways , Whats in it for me (scared so Ill be voting No) or Whats good for Scotland and its Society (surprise,surprise Yes). I hope that Scotland can be a beacon of hope to create a fairer and just RUK that the voiceless people of England ,Wales and Northern Ireland can see that things can change. That we can use our undoubted talents for good rather than greed and that on Friday we have made the right choice. None of us can predict the future (just ask Gordon Brown) but we can predict the direction we want to travel. Vote for Hope not Fear.
