Its been crazy watching the Georgia news. The Govenor declared a state of emergency. Georgia State Patrol reported 940 crashes in the Atlanta Metro area and Atlanta Troopers 285 crashes. The news in Atlanta has been reporting gridlock since yesterday afternoon. Looking out my door, its a thick layer of ice (no snow so far :( ...we are disappointed Yankees, ice sucks, snow is cool). We became a statistic yesterday evening when our heater broke. The handy man just made it out to our place with a tiny space heater as the roads were icing up in Dublin (Middle Georgia). The kids all slept in the living room which we blocked off from the rest of the place to retain heat. If the roads become safe later we are getting a new heater installed. In the middle of the night we heard a loud crash as very large ice laden branch from one of the many tall decrepit pines (that need to come down) fell onto a roof hopefully of an abandoned neighboring building. could not see anything from our windows and it was too slick to even walk to the road to look. The noise woke my sleeping three year old, Jacob who has been up since. I have not slept much since either because there is a hot space heater in the middle of the floor waiting for a curious toddler to want to investigate. So coffee has been on since 4. Good morning everyone. Oh its 530 a.m. now, and Miss Vivian (age 5) is up too!!!
