Its been quite some time since Honey B has asked me to accompany her to a poetry event. It was really good to go out, see some familiar faces (hey Jaemellah), put faces to names (S/O to Orville Walker) and just be inspired (what it do, Michelle). Now, yall know Im a music fan at heart-- but there is something unparalleled about the energy at a spoken word venue. Especially an African American spoken word venue. And its something to be said about people that can manipulate a multiverse of emotions into a few words. Incredible. Big shout outs to DMV Poet, (aka Alexander R. Butler). Wonderful host! And also, shout outs to Twist N Wordz & Mjg Speaks that kept me laughing throughout the evening. Last, but not least, shout outs to my date for the evening, JeNa Honeyb Brown! We went to see the midnight screening of The Purge 2 after the show. That ish was right-nice. Im dead for the ending tho... Happy Sunday!
