Its common for men when they meet another man for the first time to ask, So what do you do? The reply is usually, I work at ABC Company doing ________. If more questions are asked about __________, we expect an explanation of what his job description is, and his comments will reveal if he is telling the truth or not. In other words, his understanding of his job demonstrates that he is, in fact, WHAT HE CLAIMS TO BE. We have over 2,200 Facebook friends. Most are Christians by conviction, but many are not. BUT, many of those people claim to be Christians. If you asked them the would say, Im a Christian without hesitation. And yet, if you ask them what makes them a Christian, theyll say something like, Ive never murdered anybody, or, Im a good person. Huh? So not committing murder and being a good person (according to their definition of good, of course) defines what a Christian is? Maybe youre one of those people. Youd say youre a Christian. You may go to church on Sunday morning. You live a moral life (according to your definition of morality), and, of course, you havent killed anybody. I have family and friends who probably believe these things. They are a Christian because they believe they are a pretty good person. I have bad news for you. None of those things makes a Christian. Being a good person has never made anyone a Christian. As a matter of fact, no one has ever become a Christian until they see that they are really BAD at their core. By nature, evil. If you still insist that youre a Christian, then let me ask you a question: Where is the proof in your life? Jesus Christ didnt come into to the world to save good people. He came into the world to save SINNERS. Are you a sinner? If you have never considered yourself one, you are far, far from what a Christian is. May we encourage you to find a Bible as soon as possible and read the New Testament book of Romans? Just read it slowly and carefully. Take in every single word and ask God to use it as a mirror in your life. You will then, and only then, find out what a real Christian is and how you can be one. Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
