Its even worse when they only see men on the altar, are told that men are in charge of families, and see, hear, or experience abuse at the hands of men who are the leaders of the church. That men teach this to girls and women do not correct them means that a lot of blame is on the women as well. I have been in homes where only men are allowed to speak to God before a meal and it is disgusting when there are children present.
