Its funny how ones children (and no, for once i dont mean my own son lol) grow up to have opinions on what kind of parents we shoulda woulda coulda been to them. They know EXACTLY what we did wrong and - oh boy - do they know the meaning of the words guilt trip... As if, just because a mans sperm fertilized a womens egg at some point, all of our character flaws, shortcomings and internal struggles (as well as hopes, dreams and ambitions) would just magically disappear, making room for perfection, great parenting skills and a just plain 24/7 devotion - no questions asked! And the funniest part is - they keep thinking that for a looooong looooong time.... until they have kids of their own! And then... the empire strikes back - and I should know... I used to think my parents coulda done a better job w me - until i had a child of my own, that was... From that point on Im worshiping the ground my parents walk on lol
