Its getting colder out side.... make sure your hedgie stays nice and snuggly warm... Couple ways to make sure your baby doesnt try to hibernate.... Use a Puppy Warming Disc... these sell for about $20 and come with a fleece cover - - pop it in the microwave and it will stay warm for about 12 hrs! Place the Disc inside the hide so your hedgie can cuddle up to it... :) Under the tank heating pads - - The smallest one is all you really need and will run around $15 secure the pad to the under side (not inside the container) place this directly under where the hedgie sleeps and plug it in - - if it gets too hot for your little one they will come out of the hide! I have used these quite frequently for the babies in the winter I have placed them directly on my hardwood flooring and on plastic racks and have never had any issues with them getting too hot... If you are fearful you can always buy a rheostat temp control for them (these run around $30) Remember if your hedgie is exposed to temps less than 70 they can attempt to hibernate - - Look for the signs.. lethargic... not waking up... cold to the touch.... NEVER put your hedgie in warm water... water actually does the opposite and cools them ... Put the hedgie against your bare skin (on your stomach) get a blanket and just get them warmed up!!
