Its great to see Avid rolling along so quickly on the upgrade - TopicsExpress

Its great to see Avid rolling along so quickly on the upgrade path; version 8 has just come out. Its certainly got some nice new features that I might use, like clip de-activation. But heres my question: what about Script-based editing? I work exclusively in scripted series and I use Avids Script-based editing feature each and every day. I love using it, and its essential for me, but its also a mess. Its always been a mess. The problems, bugs and missing features are the same now as theyve always been. Think about this: with the single exception of ScriptSync, Avid has done *nothing* to improve the base usability of the Script since they purchased it from Ediflex and integrated it it into Media Composer in 1996. Nothing. It is *exactly* the same. Not one new feature added; not one bug fixed. Not one workaround avoided. Since the beginning. I guess the question is, does anyone care? Am I the only one dependent on Script-based editing this much? Am I the only one who wants these bugs fixed and some badly needed new features added? I wont bore everyone with specifics of what I think is wrong with the Script. If theres interest, Ill discuss in the comments. And before you ask the question, yes Ive done my best to voice my concerns to Avid. Ive gotten nowhere. And I suspect its because Avid thinks that not enough people use the Script to justify the time and expense it would take to fix it. So thats my question: who out there uses the Script? Is it valuable to you? Would you like to see it improved?
