Its hard for Celia and I to both get away from the store, but every fall we make a drive to Oregon to see some of my family. If we are going to go together on a road trip it has to be quick and a business trip, so over the years, while scouting for books, we have found some great food places as well. I know, I am supposed to talk about books, but if you know me well, you know that besides being a bibliophile Im also a foodie. You can come and see our latest book finds, but here are a few of our food finds from the trip: For anyone heading up Highway 5 to Oregon, dont miss 1. Dunsmuir Brewery Works-Great food and brew. There is also a bakery with great food in Dunsmuir, but I forgot the name. 2, On Main Street in Red Bluff we found a Texas BBQ. Wow! It looks like a dark bar from the outside, but a cool find for great food inside. Its called the Palomino Room. 3. Great dining at Lilys in the town of Mt. Shasta. Organic meats and farm fresh produce made into gourmet treats. 4. Our favorite place is the Broadway house in the little town of Myrtle Creek right on Hwy 5 in Oregon, north of Grants Pass. A real treat. We stop at this place coming and going and load up. Everything is good, but the artichoke soup, the bread pudding, and the lemon cake are straight from Heaven. Oh, and the raspberry scones and, well, everything. Dont miss this place and say Hi to Tanya from her California Fan Club. Well, back to books. Thanks Darin, Brian and Candis for holding down the fort and making our food/book/family trip possible.
