Its hard to admit, as a parenting educator/ expert that reeling in my sometimes sharp tone with the kids continues to be one of my biggest parenting goals. Even though Im aware of it and continually working on controlling it, I can sometimes hear a hardness coming through my voice. I say this because I believe is important for us to admit that parenting can really be hard sometimes and if were trying so hard to yell less and be sharp less, but still having moments we regret, we might start to feel defeated. I bet if you, like me, have been focused on positive discipline and overcome harshness that we are doing significantly better than we were even a few weeks ago. This is a work in progress--one that will benefit our whole families, as we model how to manage the big feelings that can hijack us.
