Its interesting... When I hear yes but I cant afford a Thermomix, I wonder if they arent the people that cant afford NOT to have one! Take yesterday for instance... Its been an interesting month of bills and money isnt free and easy in our little household. When a friend suggested we meet for lunch and a catch up... I was a little cautious. Not just the lunch... But the coffee... The desert I just HAD to have would easily set me back between $20 and $30... And thats just me! Then there was the problem of being at the shops where window shopping may turn into the next MUST HAVE for the house or my wardrobe. I suggested we meet at my house instead. I didnt have much time, or an abundance of ingredients, but just threw a focaccia dough together and as I had the ingredients for a pea & ham soup so that was on the menu. I had some time still, so I threw together some of the choc chip bikkies from the EDC. Im sitting down now, the next day, and thought about what Id saved. The focaccia $1.25 - the soup $3 - and the bikkies about $5 = $9ish. For my $9 I had a rather nice lunch with my friend, good chat in a warm room. I had made enough soup that we had seconds yesterday and theres enough left that leftovers would do for my lunch today AND tomorrow. My bikkies? The recipe made 65 of them! Yes, I KNOW I could make these without a Thermomix... But the effort involved (not to mention the mess) would have had me at that cafe in a nano second! With about 10 minutes work, and in 60 minutes I had them all proved, risen, baked and cooked.... All doing their thing while I had time to tidy the house before my friend arrived.
