Its just me, but before I say I understand something, I believe in - TopicsExpress

Its just me, but before I say I understand something, I believe in knowing the origin of the meaning first. Take PAGAN for instance, which means 1): heathen 1; especially : a follower of a polytheistic religion (as in ancient Rome) 2): one who has little or no religion and who delights in sensual pleasures and material goods : an irreligious or hedonistic person 3) Gentile, Idolator, Heathen. Now with that, if we wish to keep PAGAN in the context of its defintion, then that would mean a person HEATHEN who DELIGHTS IN SENSUAL PLEASURES AND MATERIAL GOODS, ONE ENGAGES IN THE PURSUIT OF PLEASURE. This sounds to me like a condition of a heart, not a Holiday, or a Birthday etc. which many are deceived to believe. PAGANISM OR BABYLONISM has to do with idolatry (everything and everyone else is important above Jesus Christ, and our Father in Heaven; it;s when you dont include Jesus in the equation of everything you are). Its a condition that comes from ones heart. What throws me for a loop is when you run into a person who own life reflects paganistic characteristics (according to the actual definition above). Who doesnt want to let go of the rebellion in their heart, yet decides to hide behind the term Pagan and point a finger at a Christmas Tree or a Birthday celebration as the culprit against God? Overlooking their own rebellion, their refusal to get right with God, to honor their parents, their husbands, love their neighbors, their wives, etc? Loving to indulge in sensual conversation, corrupt television, yet going through all the trouble in believing that a birthday celebration is going to send you to Hell? When you become a believer in Christ, you are not saved because of your works, you are saved by grace, not by your goodness, so you cant boast to anybody about all the laws you keep. (Ephesians 2:8-9) On the hand, I believe its dangerous to fall into religions who come up with on their on (not of God) with all these laws (cant celebrate birthdays, etc). Because heres what the word of God said: For all who rely on the WORKS OF THE LAW ARE UNDER A CURSE, as it is written: (meaning it was written in the old testament before Christ) “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”CLEARLY NO ONE WHO RELIES ON THE LAW IS JUSTIFIED BEFORE GOD, because “the righteous will live by faith. The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them. CHRIST REDEEMED US FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole. He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. (Galations 3:10-14) In all your getting, get understanding. Wisdom can be found if you go after it.
