Its my day off today. What do growers do for enjoyment in their free time? We go internet shopping at other nurseries of course! The thrill of seeing a cactus of succulent for the first time never gets old. I am so very grateful that my job brings me (and others) so much beauty and pleasure. So, what do I look for when shopping for plants? Healthy plants. I look at the plants carefully, especially the older leaves. Was it grown in proper light? (Is it burned or etiolated (stretching caused by not enough light). Was it watered properly? (quantity and frequency; is it plump or desiccated? ). How were the plants handled? (broken leaves, scrapes, etc.) Even though succulents are very forgiving, prolonged neglect tarnishes their beauty and increases the risk of disease and pests. Thistledown Succulents gets an A++.
