Its not the way I dance when I am all on my own, It’s not the way I make you smile when I answer the phone, Nor is it the tears that I have shed since you went away, But it’s the hope that you will return to my side one day! People will believe this is written about a girl I once knew, But its nothing like that, but if only I could explain it to you! I would describe the way the feeling has left me empty inside, And my lack of confidence that I shield away and constantly hide! The front you see before you has been developed over years, And it has been put in place to disguise my anguish and my fears! The confidence, it left me when it was battered and bruised, After years of being taken for granted and my kindness abused!! So I stand here right before you and ask you to accept me as I am, I am nothing special or complicated but just merely a man! I wear my heart on my sleeve and do the best for those I care for, I think what I am trying to say is what more could you ask for?
