Its not very likely that the thinkers in Washington were planning - TopicsExpress

Its not very likely that the thinkers in Washington were planning on drawing Russia into a direct military conflict with the US and NATO when they engineered the crisis in Ukraine. Even the US couldnt possibly want that. They must have known that the current administration in Russia would not take the bait; they have demonstrated both maturity and good sense in the past to fall for something like that. I suspect that their ultimate goal was to make the economic situation in Russia so unbearable that it would create the necessary pressure to force regime change. Fortunately for the Russian side, these unjust measures by the West, have united most Russians behind their leadership. Putin currently enjoys an 87% approval rating in his country, something that must both frustrate and make Obama very envious as his approval rating among his own people has plunged to an all time low of 13%! However, since the primary objective no longer seems feasible, Washington is trying to salvage whatever benefit it can from this mess. A breakdown in the formerly blossoming cooperation between Russia and the EU can only benefit the US. EU countries, for reasons best known to their leaders, despite their better judgement, have chosen to follow the dictates of the US in this reckless venture; something that already has cost the EU a lot more than just a shit load of money. Privately, many European politicians admit that this situation is not helping the EU in the least, however, for the time being they continue to play follow my leader at the expense of their ailing economies. As for the Ukraine and its people, they were just pawns from the beginning and as is always the case, pawns are sacrificed on the political chess board.
