Its now almost 24 hours since Margot embarked upon the experimental BiTE treatment and the continuous infusion of Blinatumomab & hydration fluids began. Margot has thus far experienced three noticeable febrile reactions to the treatment, the first of which required the BiTE treatment to stop altogether until Margots condition normalised. Temperature spikes, shivering, mottled skin, cold extremities, vomiting and tachycardia (high and erratic heart rate) are amongst the symptoms she has had to contend with. Thankfully, these are intermittent events and for the most part, Margot is reasonably well in herself and is mostly busy playing with her toys and watching episodes of Peppa Pig. Whilst it is very difficult for Margot and also for us to see her unwell like this, these are apparently positive signs that the treatment might be working. For the Blinatumomab antibodies to be effective against the leukaemia, there must be an adverse reaction, so these symptoms are actually encouraging to see. We remain on amber alert and will know more over the course of the next 24-48 hours. Thank you again for all your support. x
