Its painfully obvious that most politicians, as well as most Americans, have almost no real understanding of what is going on in that part of the world. Trillions of dollars and a cry for democracy arent going to stop religious fanatics from killing other religious fanatics in the name of their personal religion. Biden understands that, sadly most others dont seem to get it. When you fight against a group of people who have no moral qualms about killing you, your family and your families family if you stand up against them, it makes it hard to stand up. The vast majority of Americans cant seem to grasp how the mind of these type of people works. We seem to think that killing a few of them will deter them and completely overlook the fact that for every one we kill 5 more appear. By invading Iraq and removing Saddam we didnt cut the head off the snake, we took the lock off the door keeping out the rabid dogs. By training these security forces we taught future terrorists our techniques and how to use them against us. These people will never mingle peacefully. They will never coexist in the same areas without one killing the other. And its deplorable that its taken such a loss of life, money, time and so many other things for people to finally realise this.
