Its quiet. I have pork chops warming in the oven and mac and cheese on the stove. The girls are sleeping and Byron and Tristan have gone to Walmart. In the rush of the past few days I havent really had the chance to tell what happened. Some of what youve heard is true; some isnt. Ill try my best to briefly give an account of Amandas accident. Your comments, messages, texts, phone calls, visits, and prayers have meant more than I can convey. Wednesday night after church, Amanda was driving home on 19. She had just come over a hill when a car pulled out in front of her - crossing the road. If she hadnt have swerved - she would have jack-knifed the car. In an effort to avoid the car - she spun into the ditch. She took out several trees and she was airborne. We are unsure whether her car rolled, or not. It landed on its side. The other vehicle wasnt hit; it didnt stop. Were not sure how long she was in the car - she thinks she may have been out for awhile before unbuckling her seat belt and crawling out of the drivers side on her own. She was found by a man and his wife who were a fireman/paramedic and an emergency room nurse. One of Gods many miracles. She was able to give the fireman Byrons number, and as I was coming home - Byron was driving towards the accident. He rolled down the window and let me know that Amanda had been injured; we didnt know how badly. We drove up to emergency vehicles, lights, sirens, the road blocked off, and Mandas car on its side. She was lying on the ground in her Captain America t-shirt and they were working on her. Her arm was bloody and she was beat up - but she was alert and talking. I rode in the ambulance with her to Tyler; and because I had a trunk full of groceries - Byron and the kids followed behind a little bit later. I was surprised though, that he wasnt waiting for us at the hospital - but it wasnt long before he was there too. It took several hours of cleaning her up before they had the results of the x-ray and cat-scan. They had to dig several fragments of glass out of her arm. The ONLY time she almost teared up was when they told her that her arm was broken [her left arm - not her throwing arm] and she realized that she was out for the season. [volleyball] She didnt cry out or scream one time. Everyone commented how brave she was. The cat-scan showed bruising on both lungs. We had to wait until morning for the surgery. She now permanently has a plate and six screws in her left arm. I told her she has a bionic arm. Shes beat up, cut up, and bruised - but shes alive. Thank-you for your prayers - its an indescribable feeling to actually feel a calm coming over me and the situation - I know due to the many prayers that have been said. We love you; each one of you. God is [not] dead. Hes surely alive. Hes living on the inside - roaring like a lion.
