Its ridiculous that accuracy and fluency in English is a factor in qualifying to get ones ideas out in public. I wish non-English speaking countries like Malaysia and Singapore would quit this ridiculous colonialist mindset of looking down on people who do not possess accuracy and fluency in English and having this prejudice creating a barrier for these people to have more confidence to speak their mind publicly and when engaging with other people. After having taught hundreds, if not over a thousand non-English speaking people and coaching them to fluency and confidence to hold their own in public I have come to the conclusion that this prejudice against people who lack a command in the English language has to stop. Behind the non-fluent speakers, behind the people who dont have the confidence to speak their mind in conversations with strangers or up in front of an audience, are brilliant people with insight, wisdom and compassion that can help shape the way we perceive the world around us. It was a Greek tradition to be orally gifted. But it is a fact that even the best of intentions sometimes do not come packaged with the gift of the gab. It is prejudice to look down on a persons intent and message just because we perceive them to be lacking in speaking skills, especially public presentation skills. For years I sat next to people who commented on people who appear in videos, on stage - commenting on they are not qualified, they are not good, not like so and so and Ill be like, Why arent you on stage speaking YOUR truth? And why do you only pick certain audiences, certain people, certain platforms to speak YOUR TRUTH? Enough with the prejudice against people who dont speak well. Quality of mind and intention sometimes doesnt come with eloquence. But Ive seen way too many people think they have better quality minds and intentions just because they speak well.
