Its simple really. We need MANDATORY EXTERNAL REVIEW for all - TopicsExpress

Its simple really. We need MANDATORY EXTERNAL REVIEW for all police-related deaths. We need this as a society, and we need this as individuals. Ignorance was never an excuse & apathy in this moment is unacceptable SOLIDARITY, BLACK LIVES MATTER. I cant handle any more, and Ill say it, white friends (I hesitate to continue using this label), condemning or dismissing the protesters who are out seeking justice and recognition for the endless murders of POC by the police. You dont understand how a person or group could react vehemently or violently to the unchecked slaughter? For me, then your ignorance is obvious, you truly dont understand the scope of the problem. Excessive and unnecessary use of force, the murder of countless people, and the complete lack of accountability for these deaths. That is what all this fuss is about. These arent isolated events, and if you think they are, please read this article, shut up and listen: When someone is killed by police, only an unbiased EXTERNAL source should be able to clear the officers involved of liability- While this seems obvious, this is not the case currently, and often the police officers are cleared of any wrongdoing INTERNALLY, and rarely are any prosecuted. Should we assume that these investigations are thorough and constitutional, and that the police officers truly did nothing wrong? NO. NO. NO. Evidence below: The Justice Department sometimes spot checks local police departments after a horrific murder comes into the national spotlight. This SPOT checking by the FBI is NOT ENOUGH, all deaths by the hands of police should be investigated by an external source like the justice department. One such review took place after the shooting and death of a homeless man in Albuquerque; the Justice Department issued a scathing review of the local police department, concluding that of 20 fatal shootings resulting in death between 2009 and 2012, a majority ... were unconstitutional. So... looking back only THREE years, of ONE police department, they found 20 fatal shootings, with the majority being unconstitutional. Let that sink in. 20 people lost their lives, and if the Justice Department hadnt performed this investigation, would we ever even know, would those officers be (will they be?) sentenced for their crimes? Lets please keep in mind that this has been happening for HUNDREDS of years, and in EVERY city. See the extent of the problem now? This, for me, is why I can stand no white criticism of the activists protesting right now. Police brutality and misconduct and MURDER, is one more thing in a long list of systematically unaddressed issues that plague communities of color and black communities in particular. Now is a time for SOLIDARITY, not condescending or diminishing the problem. White folks, Im looking at you, this problem is our problem too.
