Its taken a lot of courage to post this & as much as I know the trust have made their decision to cut services, I hope that by sharing my story it will raise some awareness about the dangers of cutting services to Pembrokeshire. The photo on the left is a photo of my little girl, Chloes grave. I went into premature labour with Chloe at 24 weeks due to placental abruption. Sadly, at 24 weeks Chloe didnt make it but thanks to the care of Miss Howells, the drs at Withybush & the amazing midwives, Im here to tell the tale. If Id have had to have been transferred, who knows what would have happened. The middle photo is of my little girl, Mollie. She was born at 39 weeks by ELCS and I was cared for amazingly by Mr Overton and the amazing team of midwives at WGH. Unfortunately, at 4 days old, Mollie contracted a life threatening infection and had to have urgent special care. She became really unwell very quickly, but thanks to the quick actions of the paeds, midwives & SCBU staff, Mollie was stabilised before being transferred to Cardiff. The end photo is Mollie at the age of 3 - a thriving, healthy little girl with a love for life. Its simple, without the consultant lead service at WGH, SCBU and a 24 hour paeds service, the outcome could have been very different for both of us. Thank you to all the staff that cared for us & to Mr Mark Drakeford, Im not quite sure how you sleep at night. Thank you all for reading my story. X
