Its the 5th Day of Halloween and todays fright flick: • LAND OF THE DEAD (2005) Dennis Hopper, Simon Baker, Asia Argento, John Leguizamo, and Simon Pegg & Edgar Wright as zombies in a photo booth. George Romero gets political. This is some hilarious zombie fun. The living have developed systems to keep the dead (and the poor) out. Dennis Hopper is the new Donald Trump with an impenetrable tower for those who can afford it. Problem: the poor are about to revolt just as the living dead begin to develop some advanced thinking. We watch as they figure out how to cross a moat and begin to use tools — in the Land of the Dead, a zombie auto mechanic with an eighth of a brain is king. Ebert gave it 3 stars.
