Its time for Jaspers annual Boo-Who? Scarecrow Contest. This years event will be held starting at the Georgia Marble Festival on Saturday, October 4, 2014 with the Scarecrows being on display during the Georgia Marble Festival Weekend. Afterwards, the Scarecrows will line Main and Church Streets (more streets if necessary) in Downtown Jasper. CRITERIA:You are encouraged to make a sign, no larger than 18” x 24” advertising your business, organization, individual, or school class name to be included as part of your Scarecrow. Must be able to last outdoors for 1 month. No electronic accessories. 5 finalists will be recognized on KnowPickens, Pickens Progress, and the Best of Ellijay, Blue Ridge & Jasper funpaper. ALL ENTRY FEES WILL BECOME PRIZE MONEY FOR TOP 3 WINNING SUBMISSIONS (1st Place Wins 50% ~ 2nd Place Wins 30% ~ 3rd Place Wins 20% of the Entry Fees Raised) Eligibility: Open to everyone. If under 18, parent must sign application. All work must be original—made by the applicant(s). Each applicant may submit up to 5 Scarecrows. Non-refundable entry fee is $10 per Scarecrow. By delivering you Scarecrow to the Pickens County Chamber of Commerce, this allows for your entry to be placed on the grounds during the Georgia Mable Festival and viewed by hundreds as they attend this annual Jasper tradition.
