Its time to get the Liberty Book Discussion Group going! On Tuesday night, July 15th, 7:00 p.m., please join us at 11508 Winding Brook Drive in Keller (the home of Sean Maddox) as we discuss the Lew Rockwell masterpiece Fascism Vs Capitalism. 1) This is a great book! 2) Jennifer Janeiro will be leading the discussion. Jennifer has agreed to take a leadership role in the Liberty Book Group, and she knows her stuff. (Jennifers father had her reading Milton Friedman when she was in the 6th grade.) 3) You dont have to pay anything for the book. If you dont want a hard copy, simply go here for the PDF file. mises.org/document/7219/Fascism-versus-Capitalism 4) Not a reader, but more of a listener? Show up anyway. Heres a blurb from the Mises website: ******** “Fascism” has become a term of general derision and rebuke. It is tossed casually in the direction of anything a critic happens to dislike. But fascism is a real political and economic concept, not a stick with which to beat opponents arbitrarily. The abuse of this important word undermines its true value as a term referring to a very real phenomenon, and one whose spirit lives on even now. Fascism is a specific ideology based on the idea that the state is the ideal organization for realizing a society’s and an individual’s potential economically, socially, and even spiritually. The state, for the fascist, is the instrument by which the people’s common destiny is realized, and in which the potential for greatness is to be found. Individual rights, and the individual himself, are strictly subordinate to the state’s great and glorious goals for the nation. In foreign affairs, the fascist attitude is reflected in a belligerent chauvinism, a contempt for other peoples, and a society-wide reverence for soldiers and the martial virtues. ******** If that description scares you a bit because it sounds so familiar, and if you want to learn more about the antidote to fascism, come join us on July 15th. It WILL be a good time.
