Its true that the government of South Sudan has obviously and openly boycotted the unilateral referendum conducted by Dinka Ngok in Abyei and called it illegal. Its true that Juba hasnt recognized the results of the vote, but that is not enough. Juba had to stop the process from the very beginning and the freeze the funds coming from abroad or raised locally in support of illegal plebiscite. We are certain that South Sudan is keen to maintain its strategic interests and lasting cooperation ties with the neighbouring Sudan and that it will never endanger these ties for the sake of Abyei citizens. But according to most observers, what has happened in Abyei will sooner or later affect the Sudanese-South ties and that Juba is not resolute to maintain good ties with Sudan and ensure the flow of its oil exports. Ethnically, Dinka Ngok belongs to South Sudan, so South Sudan can prevent them from conducting the valueless referendum and pre-emptive move. Moreover, the initiative didnt come from the natives themselves. If they had the initiative they would have organized the referendum years ago. The Dinkas are supported by native leaders such Deng Alor, Luka Biong, Edward Lino etc. They see that the difference between President Kiir and the this group is a fleeting cloud and only political game to cover up their true wills. The analysts went to say that Juba may want to use results of the referendum for more compromise in future talks. It has played a wicked game to annex the disputed region without much efforts, therefore it has left the area to the Dinka Ngok leaders to decide its fate.
