Its unfortunate that the opportunistic alliance between Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar got the thumbs-up in Bihar bypolls from the voting public, who seem not to be perturbed by the pseudo-secularism of the duo. The people need to understand that all the talk about secularism by these leaders are all designed to garner votes. During Lalus regime, the Muslims remained as backward as they had been 20 years before. The very fact that the two leaders suddenly forgot their two decades-old differences to come together should have struck the voters. The voters instead of believing in this crap should judge performance as the only criterion for support. The BJP has done more work for the Muslims in Gujarat than any other pseudo-secularist party. Take Bengals case for instance. During the 34 years of rule of the left Front the Muslims received nothing except a flood of promises. So work and performance should be the only guiding light for the voters.
