It’s always interesting to hear from one of our designers so we were thrilled to see Adrian Runhof, one half of designer duo Talbot Runhof interviewed for Draper’s magazine. It was fascinating to hear about the brand’s humble beginnings, their plans for the future and to hear about the type of woman they see themselves designing for. Adrian Runhof and Johnny Talbot started out in 1991 but finding themselves struggling financially, they decided to take the only capital they had, 100 sample pieces, and opened their first store in Munich the following year. The rest, Runhof says, is history. Talking about the Talbot Runhof woman, Runhof believes his dresses have a wide appeal as they work across the generations. “Recently, we dressed actresses Kristen Stewart and Helen Mirren. So you can see how diverse our customers are – from a teen vampire idol to a grand dame of the silver screen.” Asked about who it is that they have in mind when they design, Runhof said, “Our motto is ‘It’s about knowing when to stop.’ We always have a woman in mind who knows how to impress, yet never goes too far.” So what does the future hold for Talbot Runhof?
