“It’s no wonder that the Evangelical Church is uncomfortable - TopicsExpress

“It’s no wonder that the Evangelical Church is uncomfortable with miracles! They’ve been down that road before! The organized Church of the Middle Ages said, ‘We have miracles. This proves we are God’s sanctioned authority, so you have to obey us.’ In response, some of the Reformers and their descendants have swung the pendulum to the other extreme. Because of this mistaken concept of miracle-as-evidence—cessationism says that any miracles that do occur today must necessarily be counterfeit. Therefore, they feel that Christians who do experience miracles are deceived (or deceivers) and dangerous! Meanwhile, the Scriptures give us precisely the opposite warning: 2 Timothy 3:1-9 (excerpts, emphasis mine) But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be... despisers of good... having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! ...so do these also resist the truth...their folly will be manifest to all.” “This Scripture plainly tells us that we ought to be wary of Christians who are ‘godly’ but deny the power (most often ‘dunamis’ = miracle-working power, specifically). It tells us to turn away from them! Then he encourages us with the message that eventually, everyone will know that they are wrong. I believe that this time is upon us. As miracles are becoming a more and more common occurrence in the lives of everyday Believers, the empty fallacy of cessationist theology becomes more and more obvious.” --Chapter 16 (“Crushing Cessationism”) God’s Will is Always Healing: Crushing Theological Barriers to Healing youtube/watch?v=NKP3w-zbtyI
