Ive been ALS ice bucket challenged by my daughter Kylea. So to me I have to learn something about what I am doing so I looked it up on line. Quick facts about ALS. ALS is sometimes called Lou Gherigs disease. It affects all races, ethnic backgrounds, every american is threatened by this desease. No definitive causes for ALS ALS is Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis - progressive, usually fatal, neuro degenerative disease (the nerve cells in the central nervous system) On average 15 people daily are diagnosed with this disease. More than 5600 americans are currently affected by ALS. ALS is responsible for 2 deaths per 100000 people. The average life expectancy is 2-5 years from time of diagnosis. I nominate Matthew E. Lee, Scot Masell, Keith Czop, and Barbara Pudlicki-Moses to do the ALS ice bucket challenge.
