Ive been a Nerd my whole life. Watched Star Trek (and other SciFi shows), played D&D (and a few other RPGs), used computers almost from the time the home computer was invented....all the things us Nerds were made fun of for. So maybe Im a bit slow or thick, or maybe I just never thought about it this way, but in a conversation with one of my many adopted children I realized something. Everyone is Nerd. Sports fan Knows the stats for every player of his favorite team, know the teams win/loss record against all of its rivals, dresses in a players jersey and/or smears body paint in team colors on self..etc Nerd! Political Junkie. Knows the voting record for at least their states congressperson and any given issue, attends rallies, wears pins or carries a sign or banner in support of their favorite politician. Nerd!! Anyone who knows the complete character list and complete history for any and all characters to their favorite TV show or movie series...Friends. Greys Anatomy. True Blood. Twilight. Harry Potter......etc Nerd!!! Got your face constantly pressed to the screen of your SmartPhone....texting, shopping, FB-ing, multi-tasking? NERD!!! In fact, the only way to not be a Nerd is to do nothing and enjoy nothing. Of course in doing that you become a Nerd too. Just an antisocial and creepy Nerd.
