Ive been challenged by my cousin, Ron DErrico, to do the ice water thing for ALS. I accept the challenge, with a couple of caveats. I have seen firsthand what a lack of good, clean water can do to people living in poverty in various parts of the world. Ive seen children with swollen stomachs due to dysentery from having to drink from the same body of water that livestock drink from, wade in, and toilet in, and that other humans toilet in and bathe in. We are also in a drought here where I live. I cant bring myself to waste a big bucket of good, clean water and ice. So heres what Im going to do: Im going to go to a nearby lake, collect some lake water, make ice with some of it, and make a bucket of ice water with 100% lake water. Ill dump it on my head AND contribute to ALS anyway (but not to ALS research, which could involve animal testing and cruelty). Video to come.
