Ive been experimenting on my body... When I became vegan and took the caution to test the calcium in my blood I discovered it was just at the low limit at 2.15 mmol per litre. The healthy range is 2.1 to 2.6. I didnt change my diet other than recently becoming a raw eater but what I did do was reduce my coffee by about 50%. I now have 3 very small fresh coffees per day, one teaspoon of coffee per cup. Now my calcium is at 2.3 well within the healthy range. Ive been very strict with my diet. In the test period Ive never broken the diet so I think I can say with confidence caffeine really does prevent the absorption of calcium from your food, which if youre a vegan is all the more important to know. - Next experiment is the impact of exercise on my bad cholesterol.
