Ive been following the news on #AyshaKing and feel totally saddened. I admit I have not researched the treatment his parents are requesting or his condition. I would like to hope that doctors, nurses and healthcare providers care enough about their patients to offer what is best for each individual and ultimately do all they can to save lives of those in their care. I also understand why sometimes it is necessary for action to be taken if parents/carers are not capable of making decisions for those they love. However, these parents appear to be intelligent, articulate and wanting the best care for their poorly little boy. They seem informed, educated and prepared for the decision they have made. And isnt that what it boils down to? That its THEIR decision to make. Can the hospital 100% confirm that this type of surgery will not help him? And as a parent, if I thought there was a treatment out there that even had a 1% chance of success of making one of my boys better, wouldnt I too do the same? They havent broken any laws and they havent neglected the needs of their child, yet they have been arrested and seperated from their very sick child. All they are guilty of is loving their boy and wanting him better. We live in a state that is constantly telling us to be responsible for our families, our elderly, our sick, our unemployed and stop blaming the government for social problems. Yet when a seemingly decent, hardworking family take responsibility, they are persecuted! Thats the kind of nanny society we seem to have created around us. Very very sad, my heart goes out to the King family as theirs must be broken in two right now x
